2016 update

It has been over a year since I've posted over here. I'm not sure how many people are still over here and looking at my page so I'll post to let everyone know I'm still alive.

The pool is warming up quite a lot. It was 75 the other day and I finally jump in, the first time this winter. Here is some pretty for you all, right off our lanai. This year the white bird of paradise has five blooms on it.

Happy Belated St. Patty's Day.

Stupid People in expensive cars

First off I am a very angry driver. I try to drive calmly but people just make me go over the edge with their driving. I shout a lot. To my credit I've never shot anyone or ran anyone off the road.

While driving home I was coming up to the toll both for the Cape Coral bridge. Three left lanes are pay tolls. Right lane is Sun Pass. The over pass empties just before the booths. I was cut off by some ass in a silver Lexus who decided his need to cross three lanes of traffic was more important than me driving in my lane. I slammed on my breaks and then, as they say this always happens, it was a slow motion view of that same ass driving into the side of a Ford 250. Ass hole didn't make it through the toll, the truck was more sturdy.

I did toot and wave as I drove into my booth.

For some reason a lot of the Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Acure, ect, drivers believe the roads belong to them and you have no right to drive on their roads. I get so many dirty mouth opened looks because I stay in my lane and do the speed limit. I'm truly sorry but I do not yield to someone who's car will hit me if I don't slow down. Like I said, I do the speed limit.

Sorry just had to vent a little and I wanted to remember this bit of just deserts. If I didn't know better, I'd say a Trickster was driving that Ford 250.

Further Equality in the U.S.

I'm sure everyone has seen this around already, but as I've yet to see it here on LJ from my flist I thought I'd share it with you all. As I'm sure most of you have heard, gays, lesbians and transgenders can now get married here in the state of Florida.

equality in america

It is nice to finally live in a state that treats us equally, or at least when it comes to marriage. In Ohio, our previous state, it is still not allowed and may be coming up to the Supreme Court to decide this year. Crosses fingers for all those people in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

Ringing out the old and bringing in the new

Well this has been a hell of a month. Before Christmas I got a chest cold, in that I was coughing constantly all throughout Christmas. It finally left right before the new year. Then however on the 29th of December, after recovering fully from my cough, I got the shingles. I've heard of them before and know a few people who have had them as well, but damn are they miserable.

I have them in a most inconvenient place, and like all the commercials say, they are quite painful and spread quickly. For my part at least they are not itchy. I went up to the clinic on New Years Day, and the doctor almost immediately and with a little happy tone said "Oh, you've got shingles." Here I thought it was just an old persons disease, but he said anyone who has had chicken pox can get them anytime your immune system goes down. With my chest cold and probably a bit of anxiety from work my immune system had been compromised enough to break out.

Of course being New Years Day all the pharmacies were closed and I had to wait until Friday to get my meds. I left work early Friday in lots of pain and nauseous. One of my co-workers came in on his day off to relieve me. I've been off since and will be off Monday too.

My kingdom for a new body, it is hell getting old.

In happier news, I had joined two fests and completed both fics on time. I've posted my Twins fic over at LJ's - hptwinsmut - this morning. You should all go over and read some great fic and peruse some wonderful icons, banners, and headers. There are twelve days of twin smut there to look at. Not just Weasley twins either.

My resolution is to keep up with my flist and post more often.

Happy New Year everyone.

Some Movie Recs for your holiday season

I know a lot of people have a week or so off. For those who find they have time for a good movie, [info]wolfiekins and [info]lena3 have been posting movie recs that Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe have stared in.

Back in the day they rec'ed queerfilm , and they decided that they wanted to dust off our rusty LJ coding skills and look back at Rupert and Dan's cinematic escapades. They've be covering FIFTEEN of the guys' films by the end of the December.

There are some awesome movies which all should see.

Here are the links to their journals, go look and get some movies for the holidays or the new year. Scrowl down their journals, check out other posts as well, and leave some love for some truly great movies.

Wolfie recs

And of course

Lena3 recs.

Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.

Christmas Tree 2014

Since we didn't go up to the attic on Black Friday and pull out the Christmas decorations and we're not quite in the spirit, we decorated one of our potted palms and brought it inside for this years Christmas Tree. I think it looks fabulous.

Christmas Tree 2014

I always liked the fake palm Christmas trees that Lowes used to carry, but as we have a lanai full of actual Palms we thought what the heck. 100 new lights and there you are, hardly any fuss.

What does your alls trees look like?

Writing update...

Okay, I think I finished the fic, have sent it to someone to look at. Today I was able to write 5,000 words. I took it slow and finally got them together. Thank you to [info]akatnamedeaster and to [info]alisanne for your help while I was writing. Your help was most valuable. :)

Hugs to you both.

I've been off LJ nearly all week an am having withdraws. However, I thought today I would try and write some of my fic for [info]hprare_cliche. I still have a lot of time, but I was hoping to not wait until the last minute.

I wrote two thousand words already today, but now I hit a wall. This fic is also looking to be far longer than I had wanted and I do not see how I am going to get the two in the sack. Is it bad to write a fic where they don't get together? I think it is but have no idea how to get them together. Any idea how to get two blokes together who don't seem to want to without it being rape?

Okay back to your Sunday.

Reunion Goblet of Fire book vs. movie

I wanted to read / listen to the Harry Potter books in time for the reunion book discussions but I wasn't able to get them finished before they started. I'm going through them still.

Today I started listening to The Goblet of Fire, and I had forgotten just how much goes on before the Quidditch World Cup, or even before school. There is a lot of funny stuff, a lot of which is why I was so drawn to the Weasley Twins. It is sad that more of it wasn't put in the movie. And how could they not put S.P.E.W. in the movie?

Am I the only one that thinks more could have been put in or do you all like the movie just how it was created?

At least I had a lot of laughs while working today. Hope you are all keeping warm in this deep freeze blanketing the country right now.

Dr. Tests

Yesterday I had my check up to get the results of my cholesterol / liver tests. Happily it went from a total of 244 to 189 ( 240 being high ). The exact numbers of good vs. bad cholesterol I don't remember but they were also in the mid range of where they should be.

Unfortunately the medicine I take can also affect the liver, so that test also showed normal. Nice relief, but you shouldn't drink alcohol while you take this medicine. That is a bit annoying, but I can still have a drink here and there and it won't affect my liver.

Getting older is wonderful. Although I've had issues with high cholesterol for years, and my diet isn't all that bad as we eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I guess I'm just a lucky one.

Only three days left in the [info]hp_reunion left. It's hard to believe it's been two full weeks already.

For those of you in the northern states, keep warm and drive safe. We were sent lots of photos from Ohio showing twelve inches of snow. Brrr. I don't miss those days at all.

Flashback for the HP Reunion

I've read a few people's posts where they have reposted their first LJ and IJ posts. Here is my first post to IJ from the 4 August, 2007. I believe I made this journal because the LJ Police were running rampant on what could and couldn't be posted. Haa, the good ole days.

Just a quick note for my first post here. Have to fix my page up here now.

I'll leave you all with my first ever written drabble. Written for [info]alisanne, who wanted Bill/Oliver.

DISCLAIMER: Harry Potter doesn't belong to me.

"By the power given to me by The Ministry, I give you...Bill and Fleur Weasley."

"Alone at last, and legally married."

"Eezz we gonna talk er make love, Billy?"

Bill whispers a lubricating charm before entering his bride's body. "I've waited so long for this," he moans.

Moments after his orgasm, Fleur screams, as her body contorts.

After several minutes pass Bill asks, "Are you okay?"

"So, that's what if feels like to be fucked as a woman," Wood said to his smiling husband.

"Don't make me do that again, Mrs. Weasley!" Bill laughs, leaning into a searing kiss.

I remember writing this for her and how excited I was for her to read it. Happy Reunion everyone.

hp reunion and a sunrise

Happy November. This was how I started today...

November 1, 2014

...and now I have a hole lot of Harry Potter to read, thanks to the [info]hp_reunion. I love how much HP there is online suddenly. Not that there wasn't any around, but the amount online now reminds me of the good old days of checking your flist, email and journal every ten minutes or less.

Glad to see you all around again.

Changing of the Seasons

The changing of the seasons is finally noticeable. The cooler weather has come to SW. Florida. Last night we opened the windows to let the low 70' weather in, the A.C. didn't come on and coming in from outside I got a whiff of the fresh air throughout the house. It smelled just like the first warm day of Spring in Ohio.

This is not to boast, as I know in Ohio yesterday it was in the 40's. SW. Florida is just backwards from the northern states. It was hard to get used to, as we can now plant our garden here in October and hopefully by Christmas we can have fresh from our yard vegetables.

As I sit here now with the lanai door open it is a wonderfully cool 66' outside and a light breeze. The birds are singing, a squirrel is pulling seeds from our neighbours tree out of our gutters, and the dogs are sitting on the lanai wanting a piece of that squirrel. I do love this time of year.

Also October brings the third book of the Raven Boys cycle, by Maggie Stiefvater, comes out. This is a great series so far and I can't wait to get the book on Halloween. The first book is - The Raven Boys. Second is - The Dream Thieves, and the third will be - Lily Blue, Blue Lily. Can't wait can't wait. Does this make me a nerd? lol

Work is unimpressive as usual. I lost a pool on my Friday route, no bigger I hated going there. By not going there now, it saves me twenty minutes of driving ( longer in season when the snow birds are all down here clogging up the streets ). However, I picked up a pool in the Colony I do so it off sets that lost pool. I'd love to have fewer pools on Friday, but this one won't delay my day too long as it is next to one I already do. The home owner stopped me on Friday last to ask about switching to our service as he was no longer happy with his current service. Apparently his old service got all pissy with him because he had his roof tiles pressure washed and she had to vacumn the pool. Please, that's your job. Anyway, that is how I got nineteen pools in the Colony so far. Or I should say twenty as he fired that company and I start doing his pool Friday next. My boss was quite happy with my customer service and me grabbing another account.

This doesn't mean anymore money for me, just the boss. Oh well, perhaps I'll get a raise sooner than April? I won't hold my breath.

Finally here is some pretty for you all. Happy...changing of the seasons to you all. Sorry this was longer than I meant it to be.

Audio Books

I have to thank [info]lena3 again for the audio books she sent us a month or so ago. They are for young adults, but truthfully they are all very enjoyable. For those with young ones, or are just interested in audio books here are a brief summary :

Fenway Fever - "Stats" Pagano was born with a heart defect but has a love of the Boston Red Sox and stats. His father is a hot dog vender outside Fenway Park, and after his wife and Stat's mother dies, his debt goes up.

Stat's helps his hero, the teams ace pitcher. Like a lot of the Sox, their season is running downward and his hero enlists Stats to help him figure out the newest curse the Red Sox are facing.

It is a fun baseball story, with a nice ending.

Never Say Die - Nick lives in the Norther Arctic with a tribe, his half brother who he can't remember writes him and invites him for an canoeing adventure to take some professional pictures of Elk. A dangerous monstrous grolar bear seems to be taleing them, and from the outset bad luck also follows them.

This is a book that is pure excitement from the beginning. The awkward relationship between two brothers who haven't seen each other in a very long time turns into a building brotherly relationship that is very believable.

Hideout I just finished this book today, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has many lol moments. A group of friends have to hide a large Doberman from his previous owner so they take him to camp, stealthy. The six friends are divided into three camps, roughly twenty miles from each other and the dog is passed between them still hiding the dog from the previous owners non-stop plays to get the dog.

If your library has this, it is worth the read / or listen.

I am now adding "Tunnels" series, book one to Fred. This is a long book so it will take me a few days to get through the thirteen and a half hour reading of the book, then to book two.

Thank you again [info]lena3.

Super Bowl Sunday 2014

We thought we'd take a little ride on our bikes after cleaning up the house a bit. There is a couple of pastures in which you may see cows or alpacas. They also have some great looking trees.

sunday ride

If you're out watching the game tonight, be careful going home, there will be a lot of annoyed inebriated people out there.

Holiday and Family

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had my parents down for a week, and again they brought their fifth wheel. Always nice when company brings their own housing. They arrived the week before Thanksgiving and left yesterday. A nice visit, but they remind me of why I moved out. They can be very taxing.

My dad has hearing aids, the kind you can't see, but doesn't wear them. He also drives about ten miles under the speed limit, a action that drives me completely mental.

My step mother can still be tiresome. She has commented on everything our house lacks, and went on and on about how they are doing, and what they will be doing.

The one relaxing, both physically and mentally, we also had the wonderful [info]magnolialane and her minion down for the turkey fest. They happened to be in Florida for the week and it was a wonderful visit. For once we had someone to take to the park across the street from our home. They just put in a new playset for kids. We were the only ones there for about ten minutes before it filled up with kids and parents. One kid, I kid you knot, brought a portable piano/keyboard and was playing music. You don't see that around here to often.

Thank you for the wonderful visit and sweets from Honeydukes, [info]magnolialane and the little Minion.

Happy Holidays to you all.

Another Sad day for us all...

from our back yard 2.3

"Andy" Griffith (June 1, 1926 – July 3, 2012)

It is another sad day for us TV fans. The Andy Griffith Show is probably my all time favorite show. It was very sad to loose Don Knot in 2006, and now Andy. I still watch the DVD's and am waiting for Season Six to come, then I'll have the series.

You know I didn't know him personally but it still feels like I've lost a family member.

I guess they can't all live forever.

This is my all time Favourite Episode. From Season 3.

I tried to embed but it isn't working for me. So click link to view the episode.

LMAO - This still cracks me up.
